This, for a change, is not a question. I have just read a little
article on the development of Yiddish and its influences on
English which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I thought I'd share it

As a Hebrew translator who also knows some Yiddish, I can tell
you that, unlike Leo Rosten who made a fortune from "The Joys of
Yiddish" but knows no Yiddish and the book is full of mistakes,
this article is very authoritative.

However, the author gives away his origins by referring to
Ashkeanic as opposed to Ashkenazi Jews, in other words, he is an
American. There is far more Yiddish influence in American
English, due to the larger Jewish population.

I have read that the second edition, written by others, is
substantially more accurate. Is this so?

I didn't know that, but it is more than likely. I will try and
find out. I know that I have seen mistakes in it, especially
confusing Yiddish and Hebrew.
