On a similar theme, working in a bilingual environment (English and Welsh) I'm very aware of the issue of names of organisations / institutions being incorrectly or inconsistently translated. I just can't understand why translators don't think to have a quick shifty at someone's website to find out what they call themselves in both Welsh and English - and then stick to the correct name throughout (I've seen documents with e.g. the Arts Council of Wales given three different Welsh names!)It's something I've learnt to automatically look at when checking text. I also check poetry on the web, most well-known poems (fiction sometimes too) can be found on the internet (although make sure it's a reputable site of course)and works of art too. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= END OF EDline 8.63 E-mail address for posting messages or replies: edline@electriceditors.net Admin page: < http://www.electriceditors.net/edline/admin.htm > ** The views expressed in this mailing list are strictly those of the individual contributors, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the moderators or of the Electric Editors. ** Articles (c) 2002--2003, by individual contributors Design (c) 1996--2003 Iain Brown Compilation (c) 2003 Iain Brown / The Electric Editors =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
