Grapevine administrative notes

Grapevine is a discussion list about computer-related issues, including using software for editing. It focuses on issues of interest to professional editors, proofreaders, typesetters, writers and those in associated jobs. Editorial matters, including questions relating to the editing of computer books, are covered by EDline, our editorial mailing list.

Subscriptions

You can subscribe and unsubscribe yourself from the automated mailing list automatically using the forms below.

If you will be unable to collect your e-mail for several weeks (due to holidays, etc), we recommend strongly that you unsubscribe yourself from the automated mailing list, not only to avoid returning to a full mailbox, but also to ensure that repeated out-of-office autoresponse messages being sent to the mailing lists. Alternatively, you can change your Topica settings to receive the digest versions.

You may wish to subscribe to the automatically produced digest for those periods when you are too busy to read daily postings, are away or ill.

Problems?

If you experience problems in unsubscribing from Grapevine, the following might be a helpful reminder.

Some people subscribe to Grapevine using a special address (specifically set up for receiving newsletters and such like) but forget that, to unsubscribe, this special address must be in the FROM field of your message. In other cases, although a subscriber has changed e-mail addresses since subscribing, the old e-mail address must be in the FROM field to unsubscribe successfully.

Archives

All messages contributed to Grapevine are archived and available publicly, either on this Website in our archives or at http://www.topica.com/lists/ee_grapevine/ for the archives of the Grapevine automated discussions. You do not have to be a member of the Grapevine automated mailing list to view these archives.

Each Grapevine digest issue is saved as a plain text file (.txt), and are arranged according to the volume and year. Please note that Grapevine issues 1–49, published for the then Society of Freelance Editors and Proofreaders (now the Society for Editors and Proofreaders), are available only to members of the Society.
