Grapevine is concerned with computer-related issues, including using software for editing, that confront editors, indexers and proofreaders as they go about their work. Editorial matters, including questions relating to the editing of computer books, are covered by EDline, our editorial mailing list.
The Grapevine mailing list was started in August 1996 by the then Society of Freelance Editors and Proofreaders (now the Society for Editors and Proofreaders) as a discussion forum for people working with computers within the UK publishing industry. It is now an independent mailing list run by the Electric Editors. As with EDline, Grapevine has grown in popularity, and is now available to editors, proofreaders, indexers, translators, writers and typesetters.
